Client Background

Our client based in San Jose needed to move their industrial equipment from an old location to a new location 30 miles away. For over 40 years, they have been an industry-leader in the commercial printing industry. As a single-source supplier, their services include printing, binding, packaging, and more. 
While this was not a cross-country move, it required extensive planning and adjustments to ensure equipment was moved within the timeframe required. The list of equipment that required relocation included heavy machinery as well as expensive, digital equipment as well.
With time constraints and a long list of printing equipment to move, the client relied on Asset Liquidity’s rigging knowledge and moving expertise to relocate their plant as well as disassemble and assemble all heavy machinery and equipment.

Plant Relocation Challenges

The relocation involved moving the entire plant, including 80 pieces of heavy machinery and equipment. A deadline of 2 weeks was required for moving the equipment of out of the old location, with time constraints factoring into the difficulty of the relocation. Unexpected challenges for this relocation included:

• Cushioned floor where forklifts could not be used
• Requiring equipment to be moved to a mezzanine level floor
• Equipment wider than what the new location’s doors would allow
• Aluminum and tin equipment that required special moving processes
• Some pieces weigh as much as 44,000 lbs.
• Plant space went from 100,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet
